Selecting a Certified Coach

When selecting a coach, it can be challenging to know what criteria to apply.  A complimentary exploratory call is a good measure for chemistry fit. This site offers a snapshot of who I am so you can decide if my background fits what you need right now.

I am proud to be a Fellow Coach of BetterUp in San Francisco where I have opportunity to work with some of the world's leading technology firms.  Also, I am extremely grateful to be a coach with AceUp in Boston, Massachusetts.

Coaching for the Next Generation of Leaders

The reason I am so passionate about coaching is because of the impact that authentic leaders can have on others lives and their communities.

We need to start cultivating leadership in the next generation of leaders, the earlier the better. My approach to coaching is based on neuroscience to change behaviours and beliefs based on how the brain works.

I love working with Emerging Leaders and New People Managers because they are open to development and at the front end of their careers.

The coaches and leaders that they work with can serve as the blueprint for their leadership approach during their entire careers.

Coaching Engagements Susan Led

New People Leader

A star employee was promoted to an Operations Manager role responsible to lead a team of five for the first time in his career. Coaching was deployed to set him up for success in his position and brainstorm approaches for tackling different challenges that came up with leading his team. The client successfully engaged in conversations about performance feedback and career development and was able to gain the support and buy-in of both his Executive Director and his direct reports to be successful in the role.

Leadership Alignment and Communication

A Senior Management Team wanted to elevate their ability to engage in meaningful dialogue and difficult conversations with each other. Susan was engaged to coach each member to set development goals to increase leadership effectiveness and communication skills. Leadership circle 360-degree assessments, Clifton 34 Strength Finder Assessment, and The Attentional and Interpersonal Style (TAIS) Assessment were engaged to identify development areas. The team achieved clarify on communication style differences and set a more intentional leadership style that tapped into their combined strengths.

LOST BETWEEN LIVES

Daniel Holden

“Once your sacred self lets you experience turning to compassionately face yourself as you truly are, I am convinced that deep, imperceptible change begins to occur spontaneously in ways you cannot imagine.  You move from a posture of despising yourself, your body, and your painful experiences and negative feelings to a posture of openness and acceptance of yourself.  It does not mean you stop growing or changing.  That is impossible. Every living thing changes. Rather, this shift means you stop trying to order your life to do what you think it should do. You begin to enter the deeper wellspring of living and allow the truest parts of yourself to direct you. Interim places are designed to bring you to this moment.” - Daniel Holden

The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

“Here’s my secret.  It is very simple: we see well only with the heart.  The essential is invisible to the eyes.  It is the time you have spent for your rose that makes your rose so important. You become responsible forever for what you have tamed.  You are responsible for your rose”  - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Double Double

Cameron Herald

"The focus and visualization techniques used by athletes can and should be applied to business. If you and your employees aren’t prepared – mentally and in all other ways – to overcome the obstacles you might face on the path to your goals, you’ll struggle to achieve them.” – Cameron Herold

Fun Ouside of Work

Outside of work, I love meditating, cooking, reading, spin class, pilates, and hanging out with my kids. I also love to traveling to new places.

In 2018, I had the pleasure of visiting Barbados with a cohort of Newfoundland & Labrador women entrepreneurs to see the island, do some business visioning and receive some coaching.

Check out the Vivid Vision for PowerUp Leadership that I wrote that inspiring week.
